Revolut Ltd, the UK-based digital banking disruptor, unveiled plans to commit over €1 billion ($1.1 billion) into French operations during the next three years. The fintech firm simultaneously prepares to seek regulatory approval for a local banking license—a strategic play to cement its European expansion.

President Emmanuel Macron’s Choose France summit served as the backdrop for Monday’s announcement. Paris will host Revolut’s new Western European headquarters, with the company pledging to create 200+ jobs. The banking license application to France’s Prudential Supervision Authority remains pending.
